Linux Port?

Post by Tiamarth » Thu Jul 02, 2015 11:59 pm

My internal hard drive recently died, so I'm presently only able to use Linux and I won't be able to move back to Windows in the near future. I think Tungsten has potential to be a good browser, but I won't be able to test new versions - though, I will follow the update news on the home page. I'm under the impression that Tungsten has a rather small development team (just one person?), so I doubt that it will be ported to new platforms any time soon, but asking can't possibly hurt. Can we hope to see a Linux version in the future, even if very distantly?

We believe it is very wonderful to support multiple platforms like Chromium.
However, We have no plan to make Linux port at least for the present, because:
  1. Fewer Features
Some Tungsten's features are not able to implement on Linux port. (e.g. LocalApp capturing)
  2. Many Costs
We have to take many costs to support various distributions because Tungsten is not only just derived from Chromium.
  3. Lower Priority
We think we should make iOS or Android port rather than Linux port because the potential users are more. Even iOS or Android port, we have not yet started.
  4. Lack of Human Resource
Our resource is limited, we have few time to make for other platforms.
If we released iOS or Android port, we would like to consider Linux port.

I imagined that would be the case, but I'm glad to hear it's not totally out of the question. I'll watch Tungsten and install it again when I'm back on Windows, thank you for the response.
